Champagne Lafalise Froissart

Rooted in Verzenay since 1885, six generations of the Lafalise family have farmed the chalky slopes of the Montagne de Reims, historically selling their prized fruit to the region's historic Grand Houses. A definitive turning point came in 2014 when Paul Froissart, representing the sixth generation, reclaimed the family plots. In 2019, he released the estate’s very first Champagnes under its own name. Today, it stands as one of grower Champagne’s most talked-about revivals: a terroir-driven, barrel-built project crafted in highly confidential quantities of under 20,000 bottles per year.

Vineyard & Terroir

Acreage: Approximately 5 hectares split across roughly 40 tiny micro-plots.

Appellation: The prestigious Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Verzy, plus a select parcel in Dizy.

Viticulture: Fully certified organic and biodynamic, with rows meticulously plowed by horse to protect the soil structure.

Vinification & Craft

Parcel-by-Parcel: Hand-harvested fruit undergoes spontaneous, natural fermentation separated by individual plot registers.

Burgundian Influence: Vinified entirely in old Burgundy barrels sourced from top estates in Meursault, Puligny, and Chassagne; malolactic fermentation is fully completed.

Aging: Built using a perpetual "solera" reserve system, followed by barrel aging and extended cellaring on the lees in bottle.
